Hair pipes are long cylindrical beads made from shells or bone, used as adornment by Native American tribes. The ones used for this hair pipe bone necklace are natural buffalo bone hair pipes, ethically sourced straight from their historical origin: the Native American tribes! These beads were common hair ornaments, earrings, chokers, breastplates and necklaces. In cerimonial occasion hair pipes were used to adorn clothing, they were also a symbol of prosperity and prestige. The bone beads are all handmade and may have slightly different sizes. The other beads are made of wood and the thread is made of waxed cotton cord. I use ten buffalo hair pipe beads each necklace. The length of the hair pipe bone necklace is adjustable between 70 cm and 40 cm. I create jewelry for those who want to live in closer contact with nature.
