Domestic logs have their own distinct look: frequent—and at times sizeable—knots up to about 50 mm, plus a slightly fibrous feel around those knots once the boards are machined. Though botanically identical to the imported material, British-grown cedar displays different performance traits, so it needs thoughtful grading and appropriate treatment when specified for exterior cladding.
